This March, Apple released the iPhone 17e along with launching their brand-new line of MacBooks, the MacBook Neo. Alongside this release, we now have rumors of a foldable iPhone coming in September.

Journalists are buzzing with articles about these new devices—but what’s actually changing?

iPhone 17e

The iPhone 17e, Apple’s latest budget smartphone, is virtually the same device as the iPhone 16e. Here are the differences worth mentioning:

  • Larger battery than the iPhone 17

  • Poor screen brightness, notably dim

  • Same processor as the iPhone 17

  • $200 less than the iPhone 17 at full retail price

    • iPhone 17e: $600

    • iPhone 17: $800

MacBook Neo

The MacBook Neo is, in many ways, the new “e-series” for the MacBook product line. It introduces an entry price point that’s cheaper than some smartphones.

In some ways, you get what you pay for—but the affordability may make it a compelling option for certain users.

  • Uses the processor from the iPhone 16 Pro

    • Especially notable when compared to the iPad Air, which features the M4 chip

  • 8GB of RAM, with no option to upgrade

  • Touch ID only available on the 512GB model

Foldable iPhone (Unconfirmed)

Stemming from a recent leak, rumors have emerged about a potential foldable iPhone. While Apple has not confirmed anything, the speculation is gaining traction among enthusiasts.

The Venn diagram between Samsung and Apple continues to overlap as their product lines increasingly compete.

With Apple’s annual release cycle about six months away, we may soon find out whether a foldable iPhone will be part of the next generation.

Keep the carrier. Lose the headache.
